Katarina Livljanić and her Ensemble Dialogos, along with the charismatic Italian singer Pino De Vittoria, in the project Ariadna živija bring to life the myth of Ariadne and Theseus through a combination of medieval and Renaissance music, improvisation, voice, movement and video. The project is based on Italian translations of Ovid's Heroides and Metamorphoses from the 14th and 16th centuries, and transforms the ancient story of love, betrayal and abandonment into a timeless stage and musical experience. At the heart of the performance is the meeting of two voices and three historical instruments, shaped through the musical reconstruction of Katarina Livljanić, instrumental arrangements by the ensemble members and poetic direction by Olivier Lexa. The past and the present thus meet in a kind of musical labyrinth in which the myth ceases to be a relic and becomes a story about the intimate labyrinths of our own lives.

In partnership with the Musical Evenings at St Donatus festival.

The project is supported by SPEDIDAM, an organization for the collective exercise of rights that works with the aim of protecting and exercising the rights of performers of all categories.

Opening hours:

Ovid in medieval and Renaissance Italy

The project is modeled on Italian translations of Ovid from the 14th to 16th centuries, including texts by Filippo Ceffi, Domenico da Monticello, Arrigo Simintendio, Lodovico Dolce and Giovanni Andrea dell'Anguillara. Dialogos draws on the musical sources of the Italian Trecento, the practice of humanist salons and the improvisational techniques of ottava rima , creating a new musical entity that attempts to revive the performing freedom of medieval and Renaissance musicians.
