Croatian House Split and the creative team of the musical "The Seagull and I" have opened applications for auditions for dancers who will participate in the new musical and stage production, which will premiere on September 5, 2026 at Prokurative, as part of the Split Festival.
The audition will take place on June 25th at the Croatian Center Split, and will be led by one of the most successful Croatian choreographers and musical directors, Igor Barberić, for whom this is his first artistic project in Split.
Barberić has a rich international career behind him. He has performed in major European productions of musicals such as Cats, Brilliant, Les Misérables and Chicago, trained on Broadway and collaborated with some of the most important names in the world musical scene. As a director and choreographer, he has created more than fifty productions across Europe, and among his most famous achievements are Mamma Mia!, Chicago, Footloose, Six and Brilliant. He is the recipient of four Croatian Theatre Awards for directing and choreography.
"I'm looking forward to coming to Split and getting to know the dance scene. Auditions are always an opportunity to discover new talents, but also to meet people who bring their energy, personality and artistic sensibility. I believe that we will gather a strong ensemble that will tell this story together with us in a special way," said Igor Barberić.
The musical "The Seagull and I" is based on the lyrics of Momčilo Popadić, Jakša Fiameng and Tomislav Zuppa, three great authors who have marked generations and left a strong mark on Dalmatian musical heritage. The libretto and direction are by Ivan Leo Lemo, who transformed their lyrics into a new stage story created especially for the Split Festival.
The creative team is looking for adult dancers with dance experience or professional dance education to become part of the ensemble of the musical "The Seagull and I".
