Combining superb musicianship, an intimate atmosphere and a deeply authentic artistic expression, the unique musical project Andreja, Rundek and Ftičeki is coming to our stage. This ensemble brings together the distinctive Zagreb singer, trumpeter and performer Andreja Kurelec Košavić and Darko Rundek and his team, who for this occasion perform under the name Ftičeki.
The story of their collaboration began quite spontaneously, at the end of the summer of 2017 in a mountain lodge on Sljeme. From casual music-making, surrounded by the forest and good energy, a vision of interpreting traditional Međimurje songs was born. They were brought together by director Sanda Hržić, who recognized in Andreja a rare vocal uninhibitedness and the joy of playing together, which resonated perfectly with Rundek's musicians.
The fruit of this synergy is the acclaimed studio album Mura Mura. Twelve of the most beloved songs from Međimurje, chosen by Andreja herself, were recorded in the studio in just two days – without extensive rehearsals, without calculations, guided solely by pure feeling and intuition. The artistic production is signed by Darko Rundek, who described this elusive process with the words: "During my many years of music, I have witnessed many times that the magic of the best performances resists recording. This album is the only one that consists of precisely such, magical recordings. We rode the wind. Hallelujah!"
Andreja's strong and impressive vocals blend naturally with the rich soundscape of the nine-piece band, in which trumpet, saxophone, double bass, drums, mandolin, violin and guitars constantly alternate and complement each other. This musical fluid creates a specific atmosphere - true Međimurje melancholy and a mystical atmosphere that reflects the authentic, lived-in blues.
"I have always wanted to sing and interpret songs from Međimurje. I find myself and find my way best in them. Blues is blues, we live it!", points out Andreja Kurelec Košavić.
