
Josip Galić began his vocal education in Split in the class of Prof. Sanja Erceg Vrekalo, and is currently a fourth-year singing student at the Zagreb Academy of Music in the class of Prof. Martina Zadro. Already during his studies, he has achieved notable professional engagements.
He made his operatic debut in Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb in the role of Miha in the opera Stanac Jakov Gotovac, after which he interpreted Marullo in Verdi's RigolettoHe also performed in Croatian National Theatre Ivan pl. Zajc in Puccini's opera The West fanciulla, confirming its presence on the national opera scene.
He regularly participates in productions of the Music Academy in Zagreb, among which Handel's Resurrection, Papandopoulou Host, Wagner Rheingold and Rameau's Hippolytus and Aricia, as well as concert performances of Schubert Mass No. 2 in G major and Dvořák Te Deum. U Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall made his debut with a performance of Charpentier's Te Deum.
He pays special attention to opera for children and young people and adapted versions of classical titles, in which he performs the roles of Don Giovanni, Count Almaviva and Lionel. He was a scholarship holder of the Croatian Opera Academy, collaborated with the Croatian Baroque Ensemble and the Croatian Soloists, and worked as a long-time honorary member of the opera choir in Split and an external associate of the HRT choir. Since the current season, he has been a scholarship holder of the Croatian National Theatre Opera in Zagreb.
He won first prizes at the international competitions "Stojan Stojanov Gančev", "Daleki akordi" and "Lav Mirski", and further improved his skills with Giorgio Surian, Ljubomir Puškarić and Leon Košavić. He participated in projects led by prominent conductors and directors, continuously developing his repertoire and professional profile.
In addition to his musical education, he graduated in Food Technology at the Faculty of Chemical Technology in Split, confirming the breadth of his interests and academic discipline.
