Silvio Bilic, guitar
Silvij Bilić's recital brings a thoughtful cross-section of the guitar repertoire, combining contemporary Croatian authorial expression with classical tradition and virtuoso concert idiom. The program opens with the work Different Perspectives Šimuna-Čarlija Botica, created in collaboration with Silvije Bilić, which explores different perspectives of the sound and expression of the contemporary guitar through diverse musical scenes.
The central part of the program is dedicated to the work of Goran Listeš, one of the most significant Croatian guitarists, whose works combine Mediterranean sensibility, virtuosity and rich stylistic diversity – from the introspective Fantasia to the characteristic Dubrovnik Rhapsody and the dance Rondoncino.
The program is rounded off by representative works of the guitar repertoire: Domenico Scarlatti's Sonata K.380, in which Baroque clarity and danceability are transferred to the idiom of the guitar, and Luigi Legnani's Fantasy Op. 19, a brilliant virtuoso work that highlights the technical and expressive breadth of the instrument.
Silvio Bilić (1998) graduated from the Split University Academy of Arts in the class of Prof. Maroje Brčić, and already during his studies he distinguished himself as one of the most successful young Croatian guitarists. He has won numerous first prizes at national and international competitions and is a multiple laureate of the Oscar of Knowledge award. As a participant in the European program Eurostrings, he has performed throughout Europe, collaborated with prominent composers and ensembles, and regularly premieres new works, among which his collaboration with Šimun-Čarli Botica stands out. He has performed with the Split National Theatre Symphony Orchestra and at festivals such as the Split Summer Festival, and plays a guitar built by Želimir Sever.
