
The young Croatian soprano Tena Lončarević (Zagreb, 1996) has established herself as one of the prominent artists of her generation, having achieved a series of notable performances on the national opera and concert stages. Her most recent significant success was her debut as Mařenka in the opera The Bartered Bride Bedřich Smetana at the Croatian National Theatre in Osijek, winning praise from the audience and the profession, as well as invitations to perform in upcoming seasons.
She received her master's degree in singing at the Academy of Music in Zagreb under the mentorship of Giorgio Suriano and Martina Zadro. She further developed her artistic training by working with distinguished pedagogues and artists such as Eva Blahova, Daniela Barcellona, Snežana Stamenković, Daniela Schillaci, José van Dam, Rita Susovsky and Cornelis Witthoefte.
Her performance in the title role of Alkema in the opera Host Boris Papandopulo was particularly highlighted in the reviews, where she was described as "a soprano with a dark color that we have not heard on the stage of the Croatian National Theatre for a long time, complete in the dramatic domain of the character, with a range from pathetic dramatic to comic, with natural acting and mature insight into the complex musical fabric of the character".
She is the recipient of the Rector's Award of the University of Zagreb and the winner of first prizes at the Stojan Stojanov Gančev (2023) and Lazar Jovanović (2020) international singing competitions. In 2023, she was also a finalist at the prestigious Mikuláš Schneider-Trnavský international competition.
She made her professional debut in 2019 at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb as the Second Lady in Mozart's The Magic Flute (conductor Nikša Bareza, director Krešimir Dolenčić). In the following seasons at the same theatre she performed the role of Mercedes in Bizet's Carmen, Kate Pinkerton in Puccini's Madama Butterfly and Madame Gobineau in Menotti's opera The Medium.
She also stood out in numerous projects of the Music Academy in Zagreb, performing in leading roles such as Alkema in Amphitryon, Napoleon in the opera Animal Farm Igor Kuljerić, Countess Almaviva in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro, Dorothée in Massenet's Cinderella and Gianette in Donizetti's opera The elixir of loveAs a soloist she performed in Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle, Fauré Bass Mass and in the vocal-symphonic project The boy's miracle horn Gustav Mahler.
