For the first time, Split will host some of the most prominent domestic and foreign names in the world of classical music, and the audience will have the opportunity to hear superb interpretations of some of the capital works of European and Croatian musical literature.

The new concert season of the Croatian House Split will be opened by a respectable international chamber ensemble consisting of three prominent individuals of the Zadar Chamber Orchestra (Marco Graziani, Lucija Brnadić, Branimir Pustički), the distinguished Montenegrin violinist Roman Simović - concertmaster of the London Symphony Orchestra and honorary concertmaster of the Zadar Chamber Orchestra orchestra, first cellist of the Munich Radio Orchestra Uladzimir Sinkevich, first violist of the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra Milena Simović and pianist Katja Repušić from Split, assistant professor at the Academy of Arts in Split. The ensemble will perform the Piano Quintet in F minor, Op. 34, by Johannes Brahms and string sextet A memory of Florence, Op. 70, by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

SAINT-SAËNS 100 – PIANO & WIND BANDS

Integral performance of chamber pieces for piano and winds by Camillo Saint-Saëns (1835–1921) on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the composer's death

This year, the music world is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the death of the French composer, pianist, organist and music writer Camillo Saint-Saëns (1835–1921). This is a rare, and in Croatian circumstances, a unique opportunity to listen to an integral performance of Saint-Saëns' chamber music for piano and brass. In addition to one of the most prominent young Croatian pianists, Krešimir Starčević, who also signs the concept of the program, the participants are Antonija Jurin Starčević (flute), Dario Golčić (oboe), Bruno Philipp (clarinet), Žarko Perišić (bassoon), Boštjan Lipovšek (horn) and Ivan Mučić. (trombone).

Krešimir Stražanac, a Croatian baritone with a rich international career, performs solo songs by Mahler, Schubert and Donizetti with piano accompaniment by the American Jonathan Ware. This respectable duo recorded the sound carrier at the Croatian Home Split in early July 2021, and will perform part of the program from the album live in front of the Split audience.

BERLIN PHILHARMONIC STRING SEXTET

Concert on the occasion of the celebration of the holiday of St. Dujma and Split City Day

Members of the Berlin Philharmonic, one of the leading orchestras in the world, work in numerous chamber ensembles and promote the wide artistic activity of the distinguished orchestra. The String Sextet of the Berlin Philharmonic is visiting Split for the first time with the Croatian violinist Aleksandar Ivić, a member of the Berlin Philharmonic since 1996. The program dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the death of Johannes Brahms (1833–1897) includes his string sextets no. 1 in B-flat major and no. 2 in G major.

ZAGREB SOLOISTS & EDICSON RUIZ, DOUBLE BASS

* With the 225th anniversary of the birth of Franz Schubert (1797–1828)

Venezuelan double bassist Edicson Ruiz, participant of the program of social development of children and youth through music The system, at the age of 17 he became the youngest member of the Berlin Philharmonic, and also the first Latin American musician to join that prestigious orchestra. Ruiz, together with the renowned Croatian chamber ensemble Zagrebački solisti, will perform as a soloist in Concerto for double bass and orchestra in E flat major, Kr. 172, no. 2 by Carl Ditters von Dittersdorf, edited by Sreten Krstić. The core of the concert program is the works of Franz Schubert on the occasion of the 225th anniversary of the composer's birth (1797–1828).

The star of baroque music, Catalan-Spanish soprano Núria Rial will present solo songs by composers from the Iberian Peninsula (Manuel de Falla, Enrique Granados, Lorenzo Paloma) whose works are inspired by the rich Spanish heritage, Sephardic and Andalusian songs. Edin Karamazov, one of the most famous European lute and classical guitar players, performs the accompaniment on the guitar. The program takes place with the support of the Spanish Embassy in the Republic of Croatia.

Croatian Mass in D minor, Op. 86, by Boris Papandopula, a capital work of Croatian vocal literature, will be performed by the Choir of Croatian Radio and Television, soloists Darija Auguštan (soprano), Martina Gojčeta Silić (mezzo-soprano), Stjepan Franetović (tenor) and Robert Kolar (baritone) under the direction of maestro Tomislav Fačini.

In the new concert season, the Croatian Home Split continues with the performance of the program on the oldest functional historical piano in the area of ​​Split (and in Croatia in general) of the brand Bosendorfer (circa 1850) which Mr. Kristian Nakić ceded for use to the newly opened Public Cultural Institution in Split. Croatian pianist Terezija Cukrov, according to the prestigious New York Times "a musician of impressive strength and self-confidence", she will perform works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Franz Schubert on this instrument.

Varaždin composer circle and Alessandro Scarlatti

The program of prominent Croatian artists gathered in the Varaždin Camerata Garestin ensemble will include lesser-known works of the Varaždin composer circle from the second half of the 18th and the first decades of the 19th century (Leopold Ignacije Ebner, Ivan Werner, Jan Křtitelj Vaňhal), as well as compositions by the Italian composer Alessandro Scarlatti. Camerata Garestin consists of: Ivana Lazar (soprano), Kora Pavelić (alto), Dunja Bontek (violin), Silvio Richter (violin), Hiwote Tadesse (viola), Krešimir Lazar (cello) and Krešimir Has (organ).

Lent concert

Membra Jesu Nostra (Jesu nostri Patientis sanctissima – The Most Holy Limbs of Our Suffering Jesus), is the capital vocal-instrumental work of the German organist and composer of Danish origin Dietrich Buxtehude (1637–1707) from 1680. This cycle of seven cantatas in Holy Week will be performed by the renowned Belgian ensemble Ricercar Consort, specialized in (early) baroque music. The artistic director of the ensemble is Philippe Pierlot, according to the magazine Gramophone one of the most important interpreters of Bach's music.

An evening of Croatian composers

The Dubrovnik Piano Trio will soon celebrate the 15th anniversary of its artistic activity. In 2008, it was founded by longtime friends, prominent artists and pedagogues of the Luka Sorkočević Art School in Dubrovnik and the Art Academy in Split - violinist Loris Grubišić, cellist Vanda Đanić and pianist Alberto Frka. The first part of the evening is dedicated to the works of Croatian composers Antun Sorkočević, Bruno Bjelinski and the young man from Dubrovnik, Ivan Končić. In the second part of the program, the Trio will perform the Second Piano Trio in E minor, Op. 92, by Camillo Saint-Saëns from 1892.

Franjo Bilić, a young Croatian harpsichordist with an impressive biography, presents a program of lesser-known works of the French Baroque and contemporary compositions for the harpsichord. He will show his acclaimed performing skills in the interpretation of works by Jean-Philippe Rameau, György Ligeti, Ante Knešaurek, Alain Louvier, Davor Bobić and Ivana Kiš.

PAPANDOPULO QUARTET

An evening of Split composers in memory of the Croatian academician, composer and music pedagogue Ruben Radica (1931–2021)

The fund of Croatian music for the saxophone quartet is significantly enriched with works by composers such as Ruben Radica, Olja Jelaska, Mirela Ivičević and Gordan Tudor. The award-winning Papandopulo Quartet dedicates this concert evening to the recently deceased Croatian academic, composer and music pedagogue Ruben Radica (1931-2021). The members of the Quartet are: Nikola Fabijanić (soprano saxophone), Gordan Tudor (alto saxophone), Goran Jurković (tenor saxophone) and Tomislav Žužak (baritone saxophone).

Oliver Messiaen: Quartet for the end of time (Quatuor pour la fin du temps, 1940)

Carinetist Ken Thomson, violinist Olivia De Prato, cellist Ashley Bathgate and pianist Karl Larson are distinguished musicians of high individual artistic reach, "superstars of new music" based in New York. Gathered in 2020 in the Anzû Quartet, they set themselves the goal of presenting the works of the great French composer, organist and pedagogue of the 20th century, Olivier Messiaen (1908–1992). On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the premiere of one of Messiaen's most famous works, Quartet for the end of time, the ensemble organizes a European tour, and the Split Concert Hall has also entered the map of European stages.

 Acclaimed international jazz the quartet operates under the leadership of the versatile Sarajevo drummer, composer and arranger with Paris address Srđan Ivanović, and gathers excellent musicians such as Manu Codjia (guitar), Olivier Laisney (trumpet), Yoni Zelnik (double bass) and Magic Malik (flute). Blazin' Quartet and Srđan Ivanović present their latest album at the Croatian Home Split concert Sleeping Beauty (2021.).

ENSEMBLE ACOUSTIC PROJECT

Folkloric fusion

Ten excellent musicians gathered in the renowned Zagreb ensemble Acoustic Project, founded in 2008 under the leadership of composer and double bassist Dubravko Palanović, nurture a wide musical repertoire - from classical, jazz, folklore music to rock. Project Folkloric fusion was created with the aim of creating a musical program inspired by the wealth of folklore traditions in these areas. According to the ensemble, the aim of the activity goes beyond the "simple" arrangement of folk dances and songs and aims to create new musical content based on traditional music.

The classical Croatian quartet (ClassiCroatian Quartette) consisting of Saša Nestorović (tenor and soprano sax), Hrvoje Galler (piano), Saša Borovec (double bass) and Šimun Matišić (drums) recorded an album dedicated to the collaboration of the two American greats jazz scenes - guitarist Wes Montgomery and saxophonist John Coltrane that took place in September 1961 and May 1962. For this occasion, Željko Milić (bass clarinet) and Goran Cetinić Koća (guitar) are added to the basic line-up or the announced "+2".

The final concert of the 2nd concert season of the Croatian House Split

On the eve of World Music Day, Croatian House Split will host Macedonian virtuosos! The world-famous pianist Simon Trpčeski gathered top musicians on the project Makedonissimo which aims to present the musical culture and tradition of the Macedonian people in a contemporary musical expression. Project filmed in production Linn Records (2020) is full of fast rhythms and vivid musical color, and it makes the atmosphere in the audience glow. Along with Trpčeski, Aleksandar Krapovski (violin), Aleksandar Somov (cello), Hidan Mamudov (clarinet, saxophone and kaval/kafal) and Vlatko Nušev (drums and percussion) perform.

The repertoire includes works by Franz Schubert, Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky, Hugo Wolf and Jacques Ibert.

Young and successful Croatian artists with impressive biographies - cellist Kajana Pačko and pianist Danijel Detoni - as "enthusiastic chamber musicians, both seek opportunities for chamber music as a special expression of musicality and sense of community in music" (Zdenka Weber, Klasika.hr, 2015). At the concert, he will perform sonatas for cello and piano by Ludwig van Beethoven and Edvard Grieg and Le Grand Tango Astor Piazzolla from 1982, thus joining the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Argentine composer and musician (1921–1992).

The program includes the Piano Quartet in G minor, Op. 25, by Johannes Brahms and the Piano Quintet in E flat major, Op. 44, by Robert Schumann.

 Lovre Marušić, one of the most gifted and successful Croatian pianists of the younger generation, winner of the silver medal at the International Piano Competition in Cleveland (USA) in 2021, will perform a diverse program for the Split audience with major works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Franz Schubert and Igor Stravinsky.

Lovorka Nemeš Dular, a pianist and musicologist from Split with an address in Ljubljana, is performing in her hometown for the first time. The program includes works by Frédéric Chopin, Sergej Prokofiev and contemporary Slovenian and Croatian composers Janez Matičič and Petr Bergam.

Samuel Arnold (1740–1802): Siege of Korčula, a comic opera in 3 acts

A comic opera Siege of Korčula (1786) by the English composer and organist Samuel Arnold, set to a libretto by John O'Keefe, was premiered on August 14, 2021 in Korčula, 235 years after the creation of the work, and on the occasion of the 450th anniversary of the siege of Korčula (1571). The opera was performed in a new, reconstructed edition since the original score was destroyed and lost. The extensive work of reconstruction of the work, adaptation for performance in the Croatian language as well as previous musicological research was led by maestro Josip degl'Ivellio, an award-winning Croatian composer and choirmaster. The director is Branka Cvitković, and the costume design and scenography is by Dženisa Pecotić.

Multiple award-winning Croatian accordionist Martina Jembrišak gathered a unique international ensemble of representative young accordionists from Europe and Asia, who will perform an attractive and unusual program composed of the indispensable Argentinian tango, traditional Moldovan compositions and contemporary original literature for the accordion orchestra. The program includes: Astor Piazzolla, Anđelko Klobučar, Léon Boëllmann, Mikołaj Majkusiak, Vladislav Zolotarjov.

Amore capriccioso

 Programme Amore capriccioso (Whimsical love) is composed of songs and opera arias with a whole palette of different love moods, from moments of longing and elation to sadness and despair. The young Zadar soprano Nela Šarić, who has been successfully building an international career in recent years, is responsible for the concept of the program. The program will be presented with piano accompaniment by Zoran Velić, one of the most prominent Croatian pianists of the younger generation.

SPLIT GUITAR QUARTET

The Split Guitar Quartet was founded in 2010 with the aim of enriching the Croatian and Split guitar scene. It consists of award-winning guitarists and successful music educators Kajo Milišić, Josip Dragnić, Goran Cetinić Koća and Martin Andrijašević. The quartet will perform attractive works by South American composers as well as compositions by Split authors Vlado Sunko and Gordan Tudor, including the premiere of Sunkova Touch composed on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the founding of the Split Guitar Quartet.

Tokyo – Paris – New York

Sibenik flautist Ana Batinica and Split pianist Tonči Tranfić take us on a musical journey from East to West with works from cultural metropolises on three continents - from the contemporary Japanese composer Toshi Hosokawa to the popular jazzy Latin rhythm that crystallized in the "city that never sleeps". On the program are: Toshio Hosokawa, George Enescu, Philippe Gaubert, Samuel Barber, Eldin Burton, Mike Mower.

The season subscription includes everyone thirty-five concerts from five cycles i a gift ticket for the Opening Concert 2nd concert season. By purchasing a subscription, you also reserve the selected seat for the entire season.

  • The price of a MUSIC SHOW for pupils and students: HRK 350,00

The musical show includes everyone thirty-five concerts from five cycles. The purchase of Pokaza does not guarantee a reserved seat. Enrollment is possible only upon presentation of an identity card and confirmation of the school or faculty the student attends.

NOTES:

50%  from the full price subscriptions (except for the Music Show) i 50% discount from the regular price of individual tickets pensioners, unemployed, pupils and students. This discount is available only by purchasing tickets/subscriptions at the ticket office of the Hrvatski dom Split with the presentation of the appropriate document (identity card and pension stub / confirmation from the Employment Service / index / school certificate).
