Jan Niković (Zagreb, 2001) is one of the most notable Croatian pianists of the younger generation. He received his master's degree at the Academy of Music in Zagreb in Ruben Dalibaltayan's class, and he trained with Natalija Trull and at the Musikakademie in Liechtenstein. Eminent pianists and pedagogues such as Eliso Virsaladza, Milana Chernyavska, Sergio Tiempo, Claudio Martínez Mehner and Rena Shereshevskaya participated in his artistic development.
He regularly performs in Croatia and abroad, and as a soloist he has collaborated with leading Croatian orchestras and with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic under the direction of Domingo Hindoyan. He has won numerous domestic and international awards, including awards at the Bösendorfer USASU, James Mottram, Papandopulo and Ferdo Livadić competitions. He has been awarded the state award Oscar of Knowledge seven times, is the winner of the Rector's Award of the University of Zagreb, and the Croatian Music Youth awarded him the "Ivo Vuljević" Award for the best young musician in 2025.
A special place in his early artistic development is occupied by his participation in the Junior Music Camp in Barcelona, where he worked and performed with Lang Lang, after which he also performed with him at the Allianz Arena in Munich. Niković is today present on the domestic and international concert scene as a pianist whose artistic profile is built on a combination of virtuosity, imagination and thoughtful interpretation.
