Pianist and composer Petar Ćulibrk presents his solo program World's Okayest Pianist , consisting of compositions from his first two albums and new compositions from the upcoming third release.
Ćulibrko's musical expression draws on the tradition of solo jazz and piano styles of the 1950s and 1960s, but shapes them through his own contemporary authorial style. Without a rhythm section or other instruments, the piano takes on all roles – melodic, harmonic and rhythmic – leaving the performer complete freedom to shape dynamics, form and improvisation.
The program features nine Ćulibrko compositions of varying character, from rhythmically moving and cheerful numbers to more intimate and reflective piano miniatures. Titles such as Samba Paris , Eleventh Hour , Detours , Sail Away and Legacy reveal a musical world that simultaneously communicates with the history of jazz and seeks its own, immediate expression.
World's Okayest Pianist is also the name under which Ćulibrk presents his current authorial work – consciously unencumbered by virtuoso labels, and focused on music, spontaneity and the personal relationship between the performer and the instrument.
