Marc Ribot, a charismatic American guitarist born in Newark in 1954, is one of the most original voices in contemporary music, known for his ability to simultaneously subvert and redefine genres. His career spans four decades, during which he has collaborated with musicians such as Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, John Zorn, Robert Plant and many others, leaving an indelible mark on the rock, jazz, blues and experimental scenes. Ribot's playing is raw, expressive and deeply emotional - equally at home in the creaking noise of classical guitar as in the gentle passages of classical guitar. His band Ceramic Dog, which he makes together with Shahzad Ismaily and Ches Smith, represents his most intense and political side: a fierce mix of post-rock, punk, improvisation and social criticism.
Ribot is a musician who doesn't play "for fun", but for the sake of truth, often unpleasant but always honest. With a wealth of experience working on film scores and his own solo projects, Ribot brings music that thinks, provokes and stays with you long after the last note. This performance is more than a concert – it is an artistic and political act of resistance in the form of sound.
