Split International Music Competition (SIMC) is a platform for young musicians from all over the world, giving them the opportunity to show their talent, gain valuable experience and make international contacts. The competition is held in the beautiful city of Split, known for its rich musical tradition and cultural heritage.
The competition is open to performers of all nationalities up to the age of 32. Participants will have the opportunity to perform in front of distinguished jury members who are recognized experts in their field, and win attractive prizes.
In addition to the competitive part, SIMC also offers the opportunity to participate in masterclasses, concerts and other educational activities, which encourages artistic development and exchange of knowledge among young musicians. This event not only promotes art, but also brings together music lovers in a unique environment that celebrates creativity and talent.

The finale should include compositions from at least two different stylistic periods, one of which must be from the Classical or Romantic periods.
It is not allowed to repeat compositions from previous stages of the competition.

It is not mandatory, but it is recommended to include at least one work by a Croatian composer in the semi-final or final. The list of Croatian composers can be found here.
Anđela Jerkunica, born in Split, grew up in a musical environment; her father was an opera singer, and her brother Marin Jerkunica was a guitarist. The guitar attracted her from early childhood, and she started playing at the age of seven. She finished secondary music school under the mentorship of professor Marijo Peručić, and finished her guitar studies at the Academy of Music in Zagreb, in the class of professor Ante Čaglj. She trained with professor Goran Listeš and through seminars with renowned guitar pedagogues from Croatia and the world, including Zoran Dukić, Darko Petrinjak and Carlo Marchione.
In 2001, Anđela received the Annual Award of the Croatian Association of Music and Dance Educators for her contribution in the field of music education. Her students won numerous prizes at competitions in Croatia and abroad.
She realized her love for chamber music through participation in various musical ensembles, including the "Amicorde Guitar Trio" ensemble, in which she has been playing since 2009. She is active as a jury member at regional and international competitions, and as a lecturer at seminars and master workshops. Since 2011, she has been a member of the Croatian Association of Guitar Pedagogues and the Examination Committee for taking professional exams. In addition to his many years of participation in the organization of the "Daleki Akordi" competition for young musicians, he holds the title of professor advisor from 2021.
Today, she works as a teacher at the Josip Hatze School of Music in Split, where she has been the head of the guitar, mandolin and harp department since 2009.
