At her concert in the Croatian Home Split, one of the most sought-after Croatian concert soloists, cellist Monika Leskovar, chooses a diverse program and collaboration with another prominent cellist, Branimir Pustika, and the Zadar Chamber Orchestra. Hugo Wolf's Italian Serenade and Edvard Grieg's Holberg Suite, two classics of the string orchestral repertoire, provide a warm nostalgic note for the journey to the Baroque and back to romanticism, all the way to the excursion into the 21st century. The concerto for two cellos is a work that can rarely be heard on domestic concert stages, it has a strong dramatic potential that Vivaldi draws from the dark colors of the two deep soloists. The composition Violloncelles, Vibrez! is for two cellos and strings, by one of the most recognizable contemporary composers, Giovanni Sollima, whose works are characterized by strong expressiveness and attractiveness as a player. The first of Haydn's five cello concertos, in C major, is one of the true masterpieces of its creator, filled with the colorfulness of the still early, pre-classical concerto form and the freshness and abundance of thematic material, which in gallant playing and a series of bravura are shared and exchanged by the soloist and the orchestra.
