In the Split cycle, Tomislav Damjanović, a prominent pianist of the younger generation, comes to the stage of the Croatian House. His musical journey began on his native Brač and in Split, and then continued with his education at prestigious academies in Weimar and Graz. His artistic achievements are confirmed by his status as a laureate of the esteemed Darko Lukić Tribune.
The recital is designed with a strong dramatic and sonic contrast. The program begins with the classicist cheerfulness of Beethoven's Pastoral Sonata, Op. 28, continues with the early romantic miniatures of Schumann's Butterflies, Op. 2, and Grieg's Lyric Pieces, which bring a recognizable coloristic expressiveness.
Such a musical arc leads to a grand finale – Three Movements from Igor Stravinsky's ballet Petrushka. By choosing this exceptionally demanding piece for the finale, the recital is rounded off with powerful and monumental virtuosity, in marked contrast to the lyricism of the first part of the program.
Ludwig van Beethoven – Sonata in D major, op. 28 "Pastoral"
Robert Schumann Butterflies, op. two
Edvard Grieg Lyrical pieces (selection): "Butterfly", "Nocturne", "Wedding Day in Troldhaugen"
Igor Stravinsky – Three movements from the ballet Petrushka
