The deOz Saxophone Quartet was founded in 2024 at the Split Academy of Arts, where it began its work in the chamber music class of Prof. Goran Jurković. All members of the quartet are students in the class of Assoc. Prof. Gordan Tudor, a prominent pedagogue and saxophonist, whose class has been achieving notable results at the national and international level for many years. Both mentors are internationally recognized musicians and members of the distinguished Papandopulo Quartet, whose dedication to chamber music has strongly influenced the artistic direction of the young members of the deOz Quartet.
Although the ensemble is relatively young, its members have already made numerous appearances as soloists and in various chamber ensembles. During their many years of playing together as part of the UMAS ensemble, the Scherzo Quartet, and various saxophone quartets at UMAS, they have performed at regional and national competitions of the Croatian Society of Music and Dance Pedagogues, where they have won first prizes three years in a row (2022, 2023, and 2024).
Among the more notable projects is the Moondog Project - Andy Scott, realized in 2024 at the Croatian House in Split. During the summer of 2025, the quartet performed at several festivals and concert cycles, including the Summer Charms of Classical Music, Postira Summer, Summer in Postrana - Pavuleta Theater, and the Drvenik Evenings of Classical Music.
The members of the deOz Quartet are Ruta Špoljarić (soprano saxophone), Matija Petrić (alto saxophone), Martin Zdelar (tenor saxophone) and Adrian Seleš (baritone saxophone). These are successful young saxophonists with a number of awards and recognitions who have combined their previous experiences to build a new ensemble, confirming their lasting interest in chamber music, joint musicianship and the development of a recognizable artistic identity.
